Enjoy Santa Barbara Car Free!

Getting to and around Santa Barbara without a car is easy and fun! Santa Barbara Car Free is a cooperative project that aims to encourage car free, carefree transportation to and around Santa Barbara.
wsppn conference attendees can "Take a Vacation from Your Car" and use the Car Free website below to find information on how to get to Santa Barbara without a car, or how to leave their cars parked at the hotel once they arrive. The goals of the project are to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion as well as promote alternative transportation as a fun way to get around town. The site also contains activity information on whale watching, kayaking, etc. Also under biking it has maps of the area.

Bike Tour(s)
Want to have a ride on Thursday during the long lunchbreak? For this, we have a leader from the Bicycle Coalition set up to take about at 7-mile ride along the waterfront.

Another possibility, if interested, is planned a longer more challenging ride on Friday after the Conference. This would be a 25-mile ride, from the hotel out to Goleta and back. A beautiful ride.

Here's a link to the SB Bicycle Coalition's website (the group leading the rides for us). http://www.sbbike.org/.
Also you can see maps of bike rides here: http://www.santabarbaracarfree.org/bike.htm.
Both trips will be lead by a member of the Bicycle Coalition - probably Wilson Hubbell.

Rental bikes are available at the hotel. Your costs for mountain bikes are $9-10/hr. depending upon whether the bike has shocks or not: 1/2-day rate is $27, full day is $40. For those who want the leisurely tour capability of a quadricycle, they rent for $15 to $25/hr. depending upon the size.

Indicate your bike tour preference(s) on the Registration page at http://www.westp2net.org/conf02/registration.htm.
