Sanford Winery

Join us on a tour of the new Sanford Winery, La Rinconada. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to see a beautiful vineyard and winery building constructed with the environment in mind. Everything about this new facility was designed to be "green" and sustainable. We'll hear about Sanford's environmental and business philosophy, organic agricultural practices and take a tour. Best of all, we'll get to taste some great wine. Here's a link to a great article describing La Rinconada

The winery practiced organic farming for over 20 years, eliminating the need for herbicides and pesticides. All organic waste is composted on site and grape pomace from pressing is used as mulch. The Sanfords are building a new "earth-friendly" winery with adobe earthen blocks and recycled timber. The wastewater from the new winery will be processed and used for irrigation. Conservation efforts also include the preservation of 100 acres of old-growth oak woodlands, the placement of owl boxes on the property and participation in the Peregrine Falcon Release Program. A commingled recycling program is in place and promotional materials are printed on 100% recycled paper or 100% organic cotton clothing.

We will rent a bus to get us there. We'll leave the hotel after the conference is over on Friday to arrive at the winery by 12:30. We'll have box lunches to eat on the bus. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. As a bonus, we'll visit one additional winery on the way back to the hotel. Second winery to be determined, but it will be a good one. We'll return to the hotel around 5:30.

Cost will be $25 per person to cover lunch, bus ride, and wine tasting at second winery. Your check will confirm your spot on the tour.

We are limited to 35 people for the tour - so sign up early!
